Makita circular saws reviews

The Makita 5007MGA was actually chosen as the best circular saw in 2017. Some of the features that it has to put it on top include a stable rubber grip, dual LED lights to light up your cut line, and an attached blade wrench. (Actually both the 5007 MGA and the 5007MG have these features!)

Some of the Makita circular saw reviews include the following:

  • “As a contractor, I use this saw daily. For only being 10 pounds it cuts with great power, even wet pressure treated materials. If you need a quality saw that will hold up to constant use this is the one to get.”
  • “Great saw for use on projects around the house that my wife gives me. We just bought a fixer upper house and I am relatively new to DIY, but this saw makes it easy to make accurate cuts and make less mistakes.”
  • “I have used several different saws working in construction and this Makita saw is the best I have ever used. Don’t try to save money and buy a cheap one. You will only have to replace it after a year. Makita is quality built and does great work.”

So what is the difference between the Makita 5007MG and the Makita 5007MGA?

There are several similarities between the two saws, but only once difference. They both weigh in at 10.6 pounds, with a 10 foot cord, and built-in dust blower. The speed of both comes in at 5,800 RPM, and they each have a standard 7-1/4” blade. They are able to cut up to a depth of 2 and a half inches and can get through many different materials. The only difference between the two saws is that the Makita 5007MGA has an electric brake that will save you a few seconds during each cut.

Makita 5007 MGA – The electric brake stop in about 2 seconds

A fun fact: The average time for a blade to stop spinning on a circular saw without an electric brake is 12 seconds. Those with the electric brake stop in about 2 seconds.

The Makita 5007MGA will cost you about $20 more than the 5007MG because of the brake, coming in at $169.99 on Amazon. The Makita 5007MG will run you $149 on Amazon, and the circular saw at Home Depot is the same price. Unfortunately, both saws only come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty.

All in all, if you do several cuts or use it very frequently and need to save time, it might be better for you to buy the Makita 5007MGA. If your only use for the saw is DIY projects around the house, then having an electric brake may not make that much of a difference to you. (But if you have the extra $20 to spend, then I would get the Makita 5007 MGA.) Having an electric brake is a good safety feature as well, but you can still get injured. Please follow all safety guidelines in your saw manual.
